Heart of Oak Theatre is a new company that specialises in touring interactive, story-based theatre to primary schools.
The company is run by Matthew Warburton and Tom Moody, with educational input from Claire Ewen.
Matthew Warburton trained at Oxford University and has twenty years experience of working in Theatre in Education as an actor, director, workshop leader and teacher. For the last ten years he has been a Director for School History Scene, who tour nationally to schools and theatres with work that supports the teaching of History. He has worked for Clio's Company and North Country Theatre as a devisor and performer of work for primary schools in London and North Yorkshire respectively. Matthew teaches drama in Stratford on Avon and is a member of the Institute for Learning and the National Association of Writers in Education.
Tom Moody graduated from Queen's College Oxford with a degree in Classics, and became a Barrister. He then trained at the Birmingham School of Acting. He has worked recently for Heartbreak Productions, touring internationally and for School History Scene, as an actor and workshop leader.
Claire Ewen is a Speech and Language Therapist who has worked in Primary Schools throughout London and the Midlands. She has taught at Birmingham City University, and now has a private practice working in the West Midlands. Claire has an MA in Education and specialises in early years and primary years speech and language.
All Heart of Oak company members who perform in schools are CRB checked and have public liability insurance.
